The Person behind the camera

My passion for photography started at age 15. I love to serve and worked in administration for many years until I started photographing professionally in 2010 after completing my studies at the New York Institute of Photography. By running my own in home child care for 11 years as a Certified Professional Child Care Provider, I learned how to work the magic of getting co-operation from the children. It was a wonderful experience to bring with me into my field of photography. I try to clearly identify with people to see their souls as well as their physical features. It's easy to click a shutter, hard to capture a person's essence. My brand is to capture it beautifully. Nobody can be YOUer than YOU. (Dr. Seuss)

Whether you are just starting your own family or have come a long way, photographs are such an important part of life since they portray life itself.

Next to posed traditional photos, I enjoy capturing connections through interactive photography. I treasure my clients and work with experienced knowledge of posing and composition. I want you to have a heartfelt and fun experience to look back on with joy and contentment.

I pride myself in telling your story, capturing personalities and turn it all into heirloom quality products of fine art to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Our close family of 7, including 4 adopted siblings, and my extended, large family back in Norway where I was born and raised, is a great inspiration in what I do for a living. I dedicate my time and passion to honor them all.

My son captured this photo of me. He is an avid photographer in spite of his struggles with Asperger Syndrome. Please check out Bens Photo Gems on facebook to see his work.
